kochen&backenTHE EVERYDAY HOME KITCHEN

Kochen & Backen brings together everyday meals, German classics, cakes, biscuits and homemade bread. The focus is on clear quantities, practical instructions and the signs that help you judge what is happening as you cook.

What a recipe includes

Ingredient quantities use metric measurements. Baking recipes specify tin sizes and oven settings. Total time includes the resting, cooking and cooling stages described in the recipe; it is a guide rather than a promise. Dough can rise more slowly in a cool kitchen and different ovens can brown at different speeds.

How articles are presented

Articles explain ingredients, techniques and common questions without invented personal stories. They are editorial instructions and make no claim that every recipe has been tested in our own kitchen. Photos show the named dish or the explicitly described technique; they are not presented as records of our own cooking trials. Shape and presentation can vary.

Two complete editions

Every article is available in German and English. The language link takes you to the translation of your current page. At the language-neutral entry point, the country supplied by the hosting environment helps choose the first language; your manual selection takes priority.
